02/10What prompted you to begin your career in Mumbai with a ‘Swayamvar’ show?

I joined only because of Mika Singh ji. I have been watching him, I have been loving him. After a point I felt if this opportunity has come to me, it has come for a reason. We got along so well. God wanted somewhere and that’s why I am here today. Destiny wanted it. I did not watch the previous shows and this show gave me a gut feeling. It brought me from Kolkata to Mumbai to meet Mika ji. There’s nothing to lose and I have only gained many friendships and love from all around.

03/10Keeping in mind the age difference between Mika and you, were there any inhibitions?

Honestly, I feel that in love, weight, age, height, caste, gender – all these things don’t matter. When you want to be someone, making efforts to be with that person, nothing matters. It’s only love that puts the entire world together.

04/10Did you read or hear such age-related comments about you?

With the good, comes the bad. I have gone through a lot of negativity. People have posted on my comments, stories, DMs. But I tend to ignore them. It is their reality and their perspective. My reality is different. As an individual, I would rely on my perspective towards life. If I am cool with my choices, then it is sorted. I know what I want. If I want to be with someone, I will be and I don’t care what others think.

05/10From trying to convince your parents for the show to making Mika Singh meet them as your prospective groom, how was that moment?

You just took me back to those moments when it actually happened. I did not expect to be a finalist, make him meet my family or go to Delhi to meet his family. Everything happened very organically. We took our own sweet time to build our relationship. We shared such a good connection, and within no time became ‘ghorer chhele’ (ghar ka beta) and his family also liked me. When things progress, things just happen. Though I wanted to be his vohti and things didn’t turn out that way, I look into the positive things in life.

06/10Mika Singh used to call you ‘cute bachha with a matured heart’ but other contestants would taunt you for the same…

He is a gem of a person and very serious about his career, family and anybody would want to be his partner. Many have called me ‘bachha’ and also I have heard people calling me ‘sugar-coated’, ‘drama’. I agree with being ‘drama’. But I don’t understand ‘nautanki’. This is who I am. And I couldn’t tell people enough to make them understand. I didn’t try to be somebody and Mika Singh ji loved me the way I am. I don’t regret how I was on the show.

07/10Entering a swayamvar reality show, did you prepare yourself as in how to be in Mika Singh’s presence?

I have to tell you this, the day we first saw him, my first meeting on the aisle – I saw many girls mugging up lines, trying hard to impress him. I was like, ‘What are they doing? And what will I do?’ They were so confident and well-prepared. I didn’t prep as such and just thought in my mind to be myself. I imagined how I would be in front of my guy. I imagined Mika ji to be my guy. And everything went with the flow. I couldn’t fake being someone else. I spent the most time with him in our introduction scene. It was like a fairytale. He was my Prince Charming and I was his Princess. All the Bengali songs also came instantly to me.

08/10With whom you didn’t bond at all and who are you still friends with?

There’s not a single girl with whom I did not bond. We all stayed at the same hotel, having the same lunch and dinner. While in the show, it was shown we didn’t bond but off-screen we bonded very well. But talking about my favourites, Neet Mahal is a very nice person. She is fab. Dhwani (Gautam) and Akanksha (Puri) are very good friends of mine.

09/10Your favourite off-screen moment in the show

There are so many! We used to go out for walks and pamper Mika Singh’s pet Tyson. We were not allowed to but we would play with him and come back. We used to sit down with all the contestants, Mika Singh ji, his pet and have coffee. There was one date, where I sang ‘Bekarar karke hume yun na jaaiye’, I thought I tanked the talent round. I thought I would be out. But Mika Singh ji balanced me by joining me in the act. That was really sweet of him.

10/10Post Swayamvar, what kind of shows are you looking to do?

If given a chance I will take up more reality shows. Right now, I want to test myself to see whether I can match up to reality. Even if Bigg Boss comes my way, I will take it up. I haven’t signed anything yet as I am under contract with the channel.
